Innovation, creativity and collaboration are hallmarks of the culture we foster here at Apriva. Our employees make us who we are, which is why we are always looking for new ways to invest in them. Enabling them to tap into the full power of their creativity and innovation is important to us, both for their growth as individuals and our growth as a company. We believe the only way we can truly drive payments forward, is if we have everyone in our company driving forward with us.
It is with this in mind that we decided to hold our first ShipIt Day in late February this year. Boy, was it a success! For those of you who have not heard of ShipIt Days, they are employee only events that foster creation, optimization and celebration, while helping to develop new initiatives for the company. With the payments industry transforming at a rapid pace, we felt that holding an event such as this would be a great way to get our employees thinking outside the box. Also, many other companies hold these events as well, so we thought we would try our hand at one.
Apriva’s ShipIt Day consisted of 12 teams, all competing for a $5,000 grand prize. Each team was tasked with creating a process, application, or solution that could improve the company in some way. And, they were given only 24 hours to do it before presenting to the entire company. If you think that is impossible, think again. All 12 teams developed amazing concepts and innovative ways to continue driving payments forward. The innovative ideas included new features like gifting, invoicing, new payment methods, and secure streaming video, as well as internal testing tools, employee communications, and employee training. Many are already being productized and we are excited to bring them to market soon.
Congratulations to all of our participating teams for your creative and innovative ideas! All of you made our first ShipIt Day one which everyone at Apriva will not forget and we cannot wait to host the next one!
